In situ FT-IR studies on the mechanism of selective catalytic reduction of N[O.sub.x] by propene over Sn[O.sub.2]/[Al.sub.2][O.sub.3] catalyst
Article Abstract:
In situ Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy is used to investigate the mechanism of the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of N[O.sub.x] by propene over Sn[O.sub.2]/[Al.sub.2][O.sub.3] catalyst in the presence of oxygen. The findings suggest that the presence of oxygen has contributed to the partial oxidation of propene and has shown a promoting effect for the N[O.sub.x] reduction.

Propene oxidation and hydrogenation on a porous platinum electrode in acidic solution
Article Abstract:
The electrochemical reactivity of propene at the polycrystalline Pt/acidic solution interface is studied by on line differential electrochemical mass spectrometry (DEMS). It is shown that a relatively fast adsorption of hydrocarbon molecules on the electrode surface preceded their electroreduction and electrooxidation at E < 0.2 V and E > 0.6 V, respectively.

Partial oxidation of propene on oxygen-covered Au(111)
Article Abstract:
The partial oxidation of propene on Au(111) covered with an oxygen layer prepared at low surface temperature is analyzed. The results have indicated that small changes in the acid-base activity of oxygen have the potential to lead to selective epoxidation of propene and other olefins containing allylic C-H bonds.
